Educational Support

Waldorf Education honors diverse learning styles and ways of being in the world. With a deep understanding of child development and Waldorf pedagogy, our teachers are keen observers who seek additional support when questions arise. The ability to perceive and respond to the individual student allows us to meet each child where they are and help them grow to reach their full potential.

Students who need extra support are held by their teacher and an ad hoc CARE GROUP that can circle around and provide resources for students who are struggling. We also provide:

  • First Grade Readiness Screening

  • Second Grade Screening

  • Screening of new students

  • Screening as requested by teachers or families

  • Ongoing classroom observation as requested by teachers and families

  • Referrals to specialized professionals

  • Math Specialist to assess and provide ongoing support to middle grade students

Waldorf Education honors diverse learning styles and ways of being in the world. At Bright Water, we weave support into the life of the school, but there are times when individualized support is needed for a student to fully develop their capacities. Families and the Pedagogical Administrator, for which we are currently hiring, work together with the class teacher on identifying and resourcing pedagogical issues and ways to support the student.

Other ways Bright Water supports our students:

  • Team-based observation, assessment, and intervention

  • Tailoring curriculum, methods of instruction, and learning environment to meet different learning styles and abilities

  • Collaborating with outside professionals for further screening, assessment, therapies, and remediation

  • Meeting with families to create support plans and to follow-up on progress
